What is tantra?<\/h5>\n

Dear reader, if you have ended up on this page, it is probably because tantra triggers you somewhere or makes you curious or because you are looking for beautiful experiences. However, before going any further, I would like to clarify what tantra is really about.<\/p>\n\n

What is tantra not?<\/h5>\n
Tantra is not sex<\/h6>\n\n

If I were to ask you, what do you think of when you hear the word tantra? In 90% of the cases, most people say that tantra has something to do with sex, or maybe some form of sex from India, or Kamasutra or something like that. Those are usually the usual answers.\nWhile it is true that there are teachings that pertain to sex and sexuality in the breadth of all that is Tantra, they are by no means the basis of this comprehensive system. The truth is that only 5 to 10% of tantric sexual teachings are about sexuality.<\/p>\n\n

But essentially, tantra is primarily a spiritual science<\/b> whose original roots go back 5,000 years ago or more. The word “Tantra” itself means a web or matrix<\/i> and implies that everything<\/b> in this universe is connected to everything else through energy<\/b>. Ancient tantrics studied the energies<\/b> around us and within us, tried to uncover the laws that govern them, and then used them for spiritual evolution\u2014a certain elevation of the mind.<\/p>\n

\"Tantra<\/p>\n

The tantric texts, the ancient texts of India about Tantra, the Agamas, and the Tantras, and many other texts, actually speak of many things, from astronomy to astrology, to the science of colors, sounds, vibrations, and chakras, and kundalini, and meditation, and healing, and geometry, and the list goes on. Simply because all those teachings and all those topics can be understood energetically, and that energy can then be of service to man’s growth towards spiritual realization.<\/p>\n\n

Tantra is not a religion<\/h6>\n

Tantra is not a religion either. It is a non-denominational spiritual system that can be practiced by anyone<\/strong>, provided the right attitude and dedication.<\/p>\n

There are two experiences of religion: exoteric and esoteric. Esoteric <\/b>means for initiates, in the word esoteric is the Latin word for ‘within’. Exoteric<\/b> is the opposite, uninitiated, outside.
\n

Religions are exoteric by nature, meaning that they include the outer ring or circle of adherents or participants, it is intended for the masses, the laity,… Tantra, on the other hand, is esoteric \u2013 it addresses itself to the inner circle, to the initiates. In short, religions are designed for the masses, and Tantra is designed for a select few.<\/p>\n\n

The tantric scriptures, teachings, and practices have been purposely obscured so that only initiates\u2014those who had demonstrated that they attained certain levels of spiritual achievement\u2014could understand them. Traditionally, the true tantric teachings, at least the authentic ones, were closely guarded and only after long periods of preparation, practice, and purification were passed on orally from master to disciple. Fortunately, these spiritual gems are more widely accessible to modern spiritual seekers than they were in ancient times.<\/p>\n\n

Dogmas and beliefs have no foothold in the tantric tradition. Tantra is instead a “self-science,”<\/strong> a practical study of the self. In other words, the teachings and techniques are transmitted to the practitioner by the master, but ultimately it is up to that person to do his or her own spiritual practice in order to personally reap the benefits and reap the results of the techniques provided.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Where does tantra come from?<\/h5>\n

There is a great debate about the origins, history, and practice of Tantra.<\/p>\n

It probably comes from ancient traditions in India, about 3,000 to 5,000 years ago. At that time, a unique spiritual system was born that provided answers, explanations, and powerful practices regarding energy, deities, the structure of the universe and reality, yoga, philosophy, and metaphysics.<\/p>\n\n

How Tantra Came to the West<\/h6>\n

It is said that Tantra first made its way to the West in the 19th century, when its philosophical foundations were introduced to curious scholars. In the 1960s and 1970s, the West witnessed the spiritual renaissance and sexual openness of the hippie revolution.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Hippies advocated non-violence, love and were also known for their open-minded attitude towards sexuality, but that does not mean they were tantric.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The sex-positive, sensual paradise that the sexual teachings of Tantra promised became attractive to this generation. From then on, the spiritual dimension of Tantra became more hidden and unknown to those who discovered it, and the sexual approach took over. This distortion remains common to this day, with very few seekers fortunate enough to encounter authentic teachings that address the whole tree and its spiritual roots – not just that one fascinating branch of sexuality.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

What is Energy?<\/h6>\n

Energy is a universal force that is within us and all around us. It is infinite in nature and has enormous potential. The ancient tantrics were very interested in energy because it can be used to help a person develop quickly on the spiritual path.<\/p>\n

There are very many different types of energy<\/a> present in our reality and in the universe: magnetism, electricity, thermal energy, gravity, electromagnetism,…. And whatever energy, regardless of type, ALL energy operates according to and is governed by very definite, specific laws<\/strong>. Unlock and decipher these laws and you will have the master key to controlling and controlling all energy.<\/p>\n\n

For example, take a look at the energy of electricity. Thanks to scientific research, one was able to decipher the laws and re-establish it themselves. Electricity ceased to be an ethereal concept, but became a tangible and sensory entity that could be created on command and at will.<\/p>\n\n

How relevant is this to you?<\/h6>\n

When everything in and around you is made up of energy \u2013 the physical body, money, health, home, emotions, thoughts, love, success, relationships \u2013 and the laws that govern all of these different kinds of energy are discovered, a person can essentially become the master of his or her own life.<\/p>\n\n

When this happens, people are no longer victims of chance and attraction, but control, dictate, and create their own lives and with them their own reality and destiny. A person can transcend duality and realize his or her true nature. This is the definition of ultimate freedom<\/strong> and spiritual liberation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

So what does all this have to do with sex?<\/h5>\n\n

The sexual energy<\/strong> is just one of many forms of energy\u2014an extremely dynamic, healing, and life-giving form of energy.<\/p>\n\n

Tantrics recognized this, and the sexual energy became another universal force that they not only studied, but also mastered. So not because they were obsessed with sex, but because they were obsessed with enlightenment<\/b>. Eventually, tantrics discovered that sexual energy is backed by an incredible power that can propel a person to unimaginable spiritual heights when used correctly, and thus the link between sex and spirituality was established.<\/p>\n\n

When a man and woman unite and orgasm is achieved, it gives a very brief glimpse of the divine, our true nature, and our infinite selves. It is a passing moment of enlightenment<\/b>.<\/p>\n\n

This is such a pivotal moment and yet so fleeting for most that its potential and impact are nil. There must be a way to prolong and extend the orgasmic experience so that this frivolous glimpse into the divine can become a serious conversation with God. Chakras<\/h5>\n

To better understand energy, it is helpful to understand chakras. You could say that chakra science came out of Tantra; There are clear references to the seven chakras in many of the ancient tantric texts written millennia ago.<\/p>\n\n

The seven chakras are not just a vague or abstract new-age concept, but are as real and tangible to tantrikas as their own limbs. These advanced energy centers of the human being serve as antennas with which you can coordinate, resonate, and communicate.<\/p>\n\n

The ancient tantric masters taught how energy worked in people within the prism of the chakras. The chakras are, as it were, channels that make it possible for something that is finite in nature (me as a human being) to gain access to the infinite (universal energy) and that can be harnessed and used for spiritual purposes.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I just said that sexual energy is one of many forms of energy, but it is one of the most powerful known universal energies. The sexual energy can create life, as you know, and its creative and energetic potential is enormous.<\/p>\n\n
