Deepen your understanding of character structures!
Get to know five basic types of structures in which every person recognises something of himself.
The division into 5 or 6 character structures is based on what Reich published in his book Character Analysis. He elaborated on the ideas of Freud. In his book he writes that most psychological conflicts have an effect in physical cramps. By this he means that one can read his life story from his physical posture. Students such as Alexander Lowen and John Pierrakos have expanded on these characters and made them more accessible to the general public. Lowen compiled the whole into a practical and workable system and called it the Five Character Structures. Most body-oriented therapists work with the typology of the character structures. In some literature there is also a distinction made with a 6th type: the symbiotic character structure.
Schizoid character structure or creative structure
