Yoga strap
The design of the cotton Yoga belt is based on the original yoga strap developed in Puna, India by yoga master BKS Iyengar. A yoga strap is a useful tool for beginning yogis or yoginis, but also for advanced practitioners in performing asanas and yoga exercises. This belt can give you that little bit of extra support or help to make your exercise easier: it ensures that you can reach a little further with your hands. It also helps you put less pressure on your body (namely on the back and shoulders).
For experienced yogis and yoginis, it is more of an in-depth tool: postures that are already well performed can give an extra dimension with a yoga belt.
Which yoga strap is right for me?
If you wish to purchase a yoga strap, it is best to take into account the length, the type of closure and the material. A long belt works best because that way you can be sure that you always have enough length.
- Yoga straps are available in lengths from 180 cm to 250 cm or more. The cotton yoga belt you find here measures 285 cm.
- As far as material is concerned, it is best to choose thick woven cotton, preferably not synthetic fabrics. Synthetic fabrics run the risk of cutting yourself or slipping in your hands.
- It is best to choose a metal D-ring as a closure. Metal or steel is super sturdy and a D-ring is easy to adjust.
