What is non-duality?
Non-duality is the recognition that “Being” is the ground dimension of existence, an open, boundless space of awareness in which everything exists, without separation. “Being” sounds a bit like an abstract word, philosophical concept, yes metaphysical. In my 2 years of philosophical training, one of the branches of philosophy was metaphysics. The word ‘metaphysics’ comes from the Greek: ‘meta’ (after) and ‘physica’ (nature). The term originated from the organization of Aristotle’s writings, where he describes the things that go beyond what is observable in nature (physics).
While physics (physics) focuses on the perceived, sensory world, metaphysics goes beyond these limitations. But it remains a rational concept, thinking about, philosophy. It was not awareness. Awareness of Being is something else entirely. It completely bypasses the psyche! Yes, even to make all limitations, all barriers, all tendencies, all desires, all aversion, all needs, all assumptions, all judgments, a glimpse of the vastness of nothingness can appear.
Resting in Being
There is a great treasure within us. An inexhaustible source of light, love, beauty and clarity. That is our deepest nature, our ground of Being. This ground of Being has largely been forgotten in our daily consciousness. By simply ‘resting in Being’ now, awareness of Being, you become aware of your connection with everything, with something that is One. You also immediately experience that there is no more duality, no over there and here, no me and the other,… This is a path, a way, that requires a lot of time and practice. And at the same time, you are already there. It’s already in you. You just have to look at it. Simple, right? 🙂
The fairy tale of the ugly duckling
A very nice metaphor can be found in Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale, in which a duckling is seen by everyone as ugly but turns out to be a beautiful swan. In the context of one’s true nature, this means recognizing one’s true, grandiose nature and that accepting the “ugly duckling,” or giving up belief in it, is necessary to recognize the swan.
The meaning in the fairy tale
The Ugly Duckling: The story is about a duckling that is born in a duck’s nest, but is rejected because it looks different.
Discovery of the true nature: After a difficult winter, the duck recognizes itself in the water and realizes that it is not an ugly duckling, but a beautiful white swan.

The meaning in heartfull Being meditation
The true nature: everyone is a swan by nature (royal greatness), but lives like an “ugly duckling” (limited, shabby) by believing that this is their true identity.
Letting go of being a duck: To recognize the swan, one must stop improving the “duckling” or try to become a better duckling.
Recognizing one’s own identity: The duckling does not improve into a swan; it recognizes itself as a swan all at once, which leads to a deep sense of fullness, happiness, and love.
Heartfulness, the non dual heart
Meditation, the art of ‘resting in Being’, is a subtle and powerful method to bring your attention home to your being. You learn to quiet your mind and focus on Awareness itself. Because your attention and energy is no longer focused on grasping experiences, they can flow back to wonderful Spirit qualities such as Love, Beauty and Bliss. When you know how to stay with this, without fixing it, Awareness itself will take over the meditation and you can let go of the effort on your part. Then you rest as Awareness and dwell in your non-dual enlightened nature, a radiant, holy openness. Here you are reborn as a Being being, a ‘child of God’, whole and historyless.
